O'ahu to Maui
The plane took off. We saw Waikiki and Diamond Head.
We stayed at a low enough altitude that everything we were passing over still felt like it was right there, like we were viewing it all from some scenic overlook. It all felt very concrete and not abstract like how the Earth typically feels from way up high on a plane. I thought it was super cool.
Moloka'i soon came into view. In the distance I saw the Kalaupapa Peninsula that I had read about, once home to a leper colony.
A flight attendant came to the front with a box, walked through quickly offering sealed cups of POG or water to everybody. Rob had been talking about POG for months so I obviously opted for that. It was delicious. Soon, the flight attendant came back and collected our empty cups.
We flew over Lana'i. I wondered how Larry Ellison felt as a contemporary king.
And just like that, we were over Maui. We flew right past the Kaheawa wind farm, and following some slight turbulence, we landed in Kahului.
